YOUNG  PEOPLE’S  CREED

As many of our young people face into their school year exams, Junior, Leaving Cert and College exams our thoughts and prayers are with them. So too we remember this weekend those receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation and take on the responsibility of their Faith. With one and all I share the following ‘Class Creed’ shared by the Leaving Cert Class in Arklow Community College at their Graduation Mass during the week. I trust it will have a meaning and a message for many -

We believe in the importance of friendship and we have respect for one another.

To have a friend we must be a friend.

Friends are a gift from God which we cherish and appreciate.

We believe in the freedom of choice, freedom of speech

And each person’s right to their own beliefs.

We believe in forgiving and forgetting as Jesus did.

We believe in hope when we say goodbye.

We believe in loving one another as Jesus loved us.

We believe that in the meanest person there is an element of goodness.

We believe in the overwhelming beauty of nature despite violence and crime.

We believe that in the future we will come to many crossroads.

We believe that with the help of our friends and with all that we have learned

And experienced together in school that we will take the right path and

That we will break down barriers with friends, relatives and God.

MASS FOR EXAM STUDENTS

Our Mass for Exam Students will be celebrated at 11.30a.m. on Sunday 3rd June which is the Feast of Pentecost. Indeed an appropriate day when we call on the Holy Spirit to inspire and guide all our young people through this time. Again this year a special book will be available from the weekend before to enrol those you wish to be especially remembered.

Enrolment Fee is £17 and covers all expenses including day trips. There are no hidden extras. All monies are used for Youth Fun activities. The support of parents is essential to the running of the fortnight. Parents of children taking part must commit themselves to at least one half day per child per week. This is necessary for insurance and may only be in a supervisory way. Youth Fun T-Shirts which must be worn are £3.50. Many children will have one from other years. This year there will be an Enrolment Night on Thursday next 31st May in the school from 7.30 to 8.30p.m. Enrolment will only be taken on Thursday night. So don’t be disappointed and enrol this week.

PRAYER FOR THOSE WHO LIVE ALONE

Stay by my side, O Lord, for I’m alone.
I need your presence with me night and day,
To share my home,
To guide me on my way.
Keep me safe from danger;
Fill my heart with joy.
Give me your peace, your gift
To share with those whose hearts
Are troubled or in despair.
And even when the shadow
Of the Cross falls on my path
I see your Easter sunlight
Through the dark.
I live alone dear Lord,
But I am sure
Your gaze is ever on me
As on an only child.
Abide in me dear Lord,
That I may live in you. Amen.
